Let me help you and your partner build a healthier and happier relationship.

✓  Parenting

✓  Values and beliefs

✓  Work through challenges

What to Expect:

During the initial appointment, I aim to get to know both partners in the relationship. This is an important opportunity for me to learn about your unique history, concerns, goals, and any interventions that may have been attempted previously.

In the second appointment, I will meet with each of you individually to gain a deeper understanding of your unique perspectives. This will enable me to gain further insight into your needs and goals. Following this session, I will email each of you an individualized assessment to be completed online from the comfort of your own home. This will help me to identify your specific strengths and growth areas in the relationship.

During the third session, I will provide feedback on the assessment and begin developing an organized and specific intervention plan tailored to your needs. Together, we will work on achieving your relationship goals, with interventions that can be implemented right away to help you make progress. My approach is focused on empowering you to create a healthy, fulfilling relationship.

At times, it can be valuable to take stock of where you are in life, how you got there, and what's next for you. Throughout our work together, I will treat you with respect, understanding, and compassion. My aim is to provide a warm, safe, and comfortable setting where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment. I will challenge you to identify and overcome any obstacles that may be holding you back and encourage you to look toward a brighter future with optimism and hope.

By working together as a team, we can develop a customized plan that addresses your specific needs and goals. I utilize Attachment Based Family Therapy (ABFT) in ABFT, therapists work with families to help them understand and repair these emotional injuries, which may have been caused by a variety of factors such as trauma, loss, abuse, or neglect. The therapy typically involves the family working together to identify and express emotions, strengthen attachment bonds, and develop more effective communication and problem-solving skills.

Family therapy serves to assist families in:

✓  Connecting in moments of pain

✓  Finding new ways of relating

✓  Exploring family roles, rules, and behavior patterns

✓  Building on strengths so your family can be the best it can be

✓  Recovering from divorce, addiction, or mental illness

✓  Make plans for how to support a family member’s unique needs

 What to Expect:

During the initial appointment, I typically meet with one or both parents to gather information about the family's unique concerns, goals, and any interventions that may have been attempted in the past.

This is an important time for me to get to know your family and understand your specific needs. Based on this information, I will develop a personalized treatment plan and provide an explanation of the treatment process that will be tailored to your family's unique circumstances.

BLENDED

Blended
FamilyTherapy

Blended families, or families formed by the remarriage of divorced or widowed parents, can face unique challenges as they navigate the complexities of combining households, parenting styles, and family histories. Family therapy can be an effective way for blended families to work through these challenges and build healthy relationships.

Parents in blended families may need to balance taking care of their marriage while also sorting out their new roles and setting boundaries with regards to parenting, discipline, financial obligations, rituals, values, and how time is spent. Children in blended families may struggle with issues such as jealousy, confusion, rivalry, loyalty, and loss as they navigate the dynamics of a new family unit.

In family therapy, each family member is given a platform to voice their feelings in a respectful and loving way. Parents can learn how to maintain a healthy relationship with their children while building a new and loving bond with their spouse and step-children. Family therapy can help address the concerns of each member and provide a way to discover their place within the new family unit.

The arrangement of Blended Family Therapy may or may not include both sets of parents, kids, or families. The treatment plan is designed based on the individual needs of a family and will be discussed with the adults in the family. Kelly, who has taught Smart Stepfamilies, commonly works with blended families before, during, and after a blend takes place.

Family therapy can help address these concerns and provides a platform for each member to voice their feelings in a respectful and loving way while each member can express their fears and concerns and discover their place within the new family unit. The arrangement of Blended Family Therapy may or may not include both sets of parents, kids or families.  The treatment plan is designed back on the individual needs of a family and will be discussed with the adults in the family.

Kelly has taught Smart Stepfamilies and commonly works with blended families before, during and after a blend takes place.

At the start of blended family therapy, I typically meet with all adults in a parental role first. This can involve meeting with them together or separately. During this initial meeting, I will discuss when and how to involve the children in the therapy process and develop a treatment plan tailored to the family's unique needs.

Teen
      Therapy

Adolescence is a period of immense change and growth, both physically and emotionally. As teenagers navigate their way through this transformative phase, they are faced with a unique set of challenges that can impact their well-being and sense of self.

To support adolescents in this transition, counseling can be a valuable tool. A skilled counselor can help teenagers understand their emotions, build self-esteem and resilience, and develop healthy coping mechanisms to navigate life's challenges.

Parents seek therapy for their children for reasons including:

✓  Coping with stress and anxiety

✓  Building self-esteem and confidence

✓  Improving communication skills

✓  Developing healthy relationships

✓  Managing anger and frustration

✓  Navigating life transitions

✓  Addressing academic challenges and performance anxiety

✓  Exploring identity and self-discovery

✓  Dealing with family conflicts

✓  Addressing issues related to substance  abuse and addiction

✓  Overcoming trauma and abuse

✓  Learning healthy coping mechanisms for depression and other mental health issues

What to Expect:

When seeking therapy for adolescents, it's important for a parent, family member, or caretaker to be actively involved in the treatment process. My first appointment with the therapist is a parent intake appointment, which can include both parents, to discuss the child's history, family dynamics, and any concerns or goals for therapy. I will then create a treatment plan that involves both the parent(s) and the adolescent.

If the adolescent is 16 years or older and comfortable discussing their concerns with their parent(s) present, they may be included in the initial appointment.

FAITH

Faith
      Based                      Therapy

I understand that spirituality and faith can be important aspects of a person's life and may impact their mental health and overall well-being. As a therapist, I am committed to providing a safe and supportive space for clients to explore and discuss these topics, should they wish to do so.

While I am a Christian, I work with individuals of all faiths or no faith at all. My focus is on helping clients work through the issues they bring to therapy, using evidence-based tools and techniques. If a client expresses a desire to integrate their faith into the counseling process, I am open to doing so, but I will never impose my own beliefs on my clients.

With many years of experience working in various faith-based orientations, I have learned to approach counseling from a non-judgmental and client-centered perspective, prioritizing the well-being and autonomy of the individual. Whether you have questions or concerns about integrating faith into therapy or any other aspect of the counseling process, I am available to discuss and address them.

EXEC THERAPY

Psychotherapy for executives is an area of my practice that I specialize in. As a licensed therapist with years of experience, I have worked with many executives who struggle with the unique challenges that come with their roles.

The high-pressure, fast-paced environment with a rapidly changing culture can take a toll on mental health, and I am here to offer support and guidance. Whether it is anxiety, depression, grief, or relationship difficulties, I use evidence-based therapies to help executives manage their symptoms and build resilience. Additionally, as an EMDR certified therapist, I can provide effective treatment for individuals who have experienced trauma.
